Hosta Spring (1) 21x14
This Natural Light Series is a study of light as it falls around and within a subject. These first three prints (Hosta Spring, Hosta Spring 2 and Hosta Spring 3) are from a series of photos I took at a Lowes Garden Center. The Hosta was on a rack not yet set out for sale. I noticed the three dimensional effects of the sunlight crossing the leaves as well as the subtle brown and bronze tones juxtaposed against the blues in the sky and the greens in the leaves. I shot from a low angle giving the images an unusual prospective. These three prints are the beginning of a set of Georgia O’Keeffe style prints where I get close and simplify my compositions. They are well suited as individual prints or as a grouping on an interest wall where an environmental or green accent is needed.

Algal Bouquet 24x16
“Algal Bouquet” is one of my delightful surprises. I wanted to make this print larger to more easily appreciate the color play but that would have warranted a higher print price and I want fifty people to own this print soon. I found this lovely arraignments of algal colonies understated on the side of a large clay pot on my patio. The beautiful hydrangea growing within it was upstaged by the color display seen here. This print will capture the attention of anyone entering the room where it hangs.
