WHAT IS A LIMITED-EDITION PRINT?

A limited-edition print is created with the art collector and those seeking to acquire art as an investment as well as for those desiring to purchase fine art to exhibit within their living space and enjoy together with friends.

The prints presented on this web site exhibit both technical excellence and the artist’s unique personal view.  Each edition is limited to only 50 prints and 5 artist proofs.  One print is reserved for the artist’s private collection.  The remaining 49 signed and numbered prints are available for purchase by the public.  No additional prints will be created once these 49 are sold.  There will be a sliding price scale which will increase as the prints are sold which will ensure an increase in a print’s value.  Each individual print will be signed and numbered by the artist.

From time-to-time, an edition will be designated (at the time of its release) as including a greater number of prints or as an OPEN-RELEASE edition.  These open-edition prints are produced using the same high-quality archival process as is used in producing the limited-edition prints but no edition number or size limitation will apply.  It is here where the custom sizing of a print can be accomplished to conform with the buyers specifications.  Open-edition prints are signed but not numbered by the artist.

PRINT QUALITY

These prints are made to the finest museum quality fine art standards.  It is  estimated that they will  retain their original hue and color in excess of 100 years when displayed with care away from the direct exposure to sunlight.   This is achieved by printing on 100% acid free fine art cotton rag paper using the giclee process and archival pigment based inks.

WHY THE GALLERY PRINT FORMAT:

The Gallery Print format has been chosen for these prints for several reasons.

  • It is a commonly recognized format often found in both art galleries and museum collections as well as within private collections.
  • It provides a handsome presentation for the image .
  • In many instances, it eliminates the need to mat the print before placing it within a frame as the border of the gallery print serves as the mat.  It is the personal choice of the owner whether a mat is used.
  • The border space provides adequate space for the artist to number and sign the print.
  • It differentiates these digital fine art prints from those of a “wet paint” artist.
  • Has become the recognizable style of the artist.

PRINT SIZE

Each edition has a published size for the specific print.  Generally, only one size is offered for a print.  Should the print be offered as an open-release print, it will then be possible to purchase a print created to the size one desires.  These prints are signed by the artist but not numbered and limited to only those designated as open-release prints.

FINE ART PAPER

As a general rule, the paper selected for these prints is Hahnemuehle Photo Rag 100% cotton – 308 gsm smooth.  This paper is chosen for its digital fine art application where impressive pictorial depth, detailed capture, excellent image sharpness and optimum color gradation is desired.  It is both age and water resistant.  The heaver 308 gsm structure provides the sturdy weight of an art paper with a smooth calendered bright white surface.

Our prints come with an additional 1 inch border outside the actual print dimension.
