In addition to the series of prints entitled “Birds,” I have this series that focuses on those eagles, herons and egrets that have appeared in association with an old tree that died in 2004. This tree stands 60 feet from my front door from which I have captured these images. A perching point is the final (and continuing) role this century old giant plays in its environment. I was first saddened when I noticed that the tree was dying but have learned to appreciate how natural situations interact with all the elements within the environment.
I have used several techniques in developing the different images into these final prints. I specifically point to “Green Herons” to demonstrate the watercolor wash appearance I utilized.
Great White Heron 11x14
Three herons (little green) 16x21
The Gathering 8x10
Great Egret 11x14
Wood Stork 8x10
Great Blue Heron 14x19
