The Low Country is just that. Fresh and salt water ponds are just about everywhere. This one is a flooded phosphate mine from the 1880s. It is today home to many of our wildlife species including the southern alligator. Spring always brings several flotillas of Wood Duck chicks with their mommas. There is a little minnow here call “Gambusia” or mosquito fish that eliminate the mosquito larva from these impoundments and in turn becomes food for the bream and bass.
